I’ve been messing with Druid in PoE 2 v0.4 and there’s one interaction that keeps paying out way more than it should. If you’re already farming and thinking about gearing steps or swapping gems, it pairs nicely with planning your PoE 2 Currency spend, because the core of the trick is cheap: stack Rage, then cash it in for a huge cold boost off a single freeze.
The key piece is Bhatair's Vengeance Support. It has a freeze-triggered buff that converts your current Rage into extra cold damage. It’s simple: when you freeze something, you gain 1% of your damage as extra Cold Damage per point of Rage at that moment. So if you’re sitting around 90 Rage, you’re basically flipping on roughly 90% additional cold damage. The duration is long enough that it doesn’t feel like a gimmick, and it’s consistent because you control when you trigger it.
A lot of people try to freeze with their “real” damage button and it gets awkward fast. Bosses have big ailment thresholds, your freeze timing gets messy, and you end up chasing the buff instead of playing. Use a small utility link instead. Lunar Assault is great here since it already leans into cold conversion and builds chill/freeze naturally. Link it to Freeze Support so even a light tap on a weak target locks the freeze in. Then add Prolonged Duration Support to stretch the buff window so you’re not reapplying it every time you blink.
The loop is more “street smart” than technical. When you walk into a boss room, don’t stare at the boss and pray for a freeze. Just look for something disposable: a white mob, a stray add, anything that’ll freeze on contact. Hit it once with your Lunar Assault setup, watch for the buff icon, then swap back to your main damage skill and go to work. You’ll notice the difference immediately, especially on phases where you’re normally waiting for damage to ramp. Keep an eye on the timer, refresh it off a trash mob when it’s convenient, and you stay in that boosted state without breaking your flow.
The best part is you’re not gambling on procs; you’re choosing the moment. If the arena spawns adds, you’re set. If it doesn’t, you can often drag a pack in before the door or tag something on the way. That’s the whole vibe: one quick freeze, then you’re back to playing your build like normal, only everything hits harder. And if you’re tuning upgrades around this, it’s worth remembering that the buff scales with your Rage snapshot, so staying topped up matters as much as raw damage. When you’re ready to push that setup further and smooth out the gearing curve, a lot of players look at u4gm poe2 options to round out the last few gaps without stalling their progression.
